Comparison
Aug 06, 2020
So you finally started that thing, that thing that you’ve been thinking about starting for so long. You’ve been courageous enough to take action and now you find yourself in a position at the start of the journey. You wanted this for so long and have been toying with the idea of it for over six months and now you have finally taken action.
Then bam....out of nowhere it shows up on your doorstep. You never anticipated that this would be such a huge hurdle, but it seems to be there no matter which way you turn.
That thing ladies and gentlemen is COMPARISONAlthoughyou know that you are just at the start, you cannot help to look into the future and compare your current situation to other people that are six months, two years or even five years down the line from you.
Now you find yourself in a situation where you are benchmarking your progression on other people’s statuses. It is killing your growth, giving you lack of motivation and placing a level of overwhelm onto you that you’ve never experienced before. And now this project that you’ve been so excited about starting becomes a burden and the excitement dwindles.
So how do you get around it? How do you stop paying so much attention to everybody else? Like most things in life, there is a simple solution. Now I said simple, not easy. That solution is FOCUS The moment you decide that it’s you against you, is the moment that you take back control.
Focus is the gateway to forward-thinking. In the simplest form, it means to pay attention. Focus involves the ability to pay attention to things that will help move the project needle and avoid distractions that will hurt your efforts to achieve what you want from life.
Without good focus, all aspects of your ability to think will suffer. Perception, memory learning, reasoning, problem-solving and decision making. If you think back to a time where you achieved something big in your life, I guarantee your focus played a huge role in that achievement, not comparison.
So here’s what I’d like you to do today. Start focusing on what it is that you want. Stop looking at what everybody else is doing. No one else’s life or dreams have any direct correlation to your dreams, goals or desires.
Today is the day that you take back control, today is the day that you gain a level of focus that is razor-sharp, and today is the day that you step into your power.
